BIO

Sara Roy is a Catalan singer and songwriter who has been into music for twelve years. During her adolescence she was part of the children-music band named Macedonia. Later on, she took part in the renowned contest "Factor X Spain" with the band Noah. In addition, she has been composing and playing her own songs in venues and festivals all over Catalonia since she was fifteen - in Sala Stroika in Manresa, Acústica in Figueres, and Mercat de Música Viva in Vic, among others.

In 2020, after a year and a half working on the recording studio, along with the producer Jordi Pinyot, she released the single "Som". This self-produced and self-published single was broadcast on all Catalan radios owing to Cases de la Música's aid.

This year Roy is releasing her first record, supported by the prestigious, Catalan record label Halley Records. It is an eleven-song album where Roy has shown her soul and essence through both powerful, cheerful songs and intimate, deep ones. This new work has been produced by Marc Martin and a wide range of excellent musicians have taken part in the record process.

(A)MAR is a piece of myself and a proof of what Sara Roy can become. This is the reason why the word ‘mar’ (‘sea’, in Catalan and Spanish) perfectly fits on this album. The sea caches us by surprise and we are not capable to see it all. Through the waves, there are always new things to come and stories to tell. It is always moving, progressing and changing.

I have work on this project with all my heart, efforts and care. ‘Amar’ means to love in Catalan and Spanish. To love what you do, as I love music, to love oneself and to love all the people who have believed in me and have inspired me to create every song of this album.
